Vanguard Wood Snares – Perfect combination of warmth and cut
We use the classic woods maple and birch for the wooden snare drums in the Vanguard series. With its warm and versatile sound, maple is the ideal material for our standard-sized snare drums in 14″ x 5.5″ and 14″ x 6.5″. Our 14″ x 4″ model is perfect as a piccolo or sidesnare with the bright and cutting sound of the birch shell.
Vanguard Copper Snares – Dark tonality with rich overtones
With its deep, rich and musical sound, copper is the ideal material not only for timpani shells, but also for snare drums. For an optimally balanced sound, the shells of our 14″ x 5.5″ and 14″ x 6.5″ copper snare drums have been elaborately hammered. The 2.3mm hoops provide the necessary punch.
Vanguard Aluminium Snares – Dry, crisp and well-balanced
The greatest hits in music history were recorded with aluminium snare drums because this material produces a sound that is particularly suitable for recordings. In combination with the 1.5mm steel hoops, the shell produces a dry, crisp and controlled sound with short sustain.
